I may have mentioned that I went to elementary school with Al Gore's former speech writer, Eli Attie. (A smart kid and, oddly, a pre-adolescent walking encyclopedia of pop, rock and punk music. The one time I visited his brownstone after school he showed me an Elvis Costello video on his father's very early VCR). Eli evidently wrote Gore's concession speech all those years ago -- a stark contrast when compared with this week's guttural diatribe. This account gives even more credit to Attie.

I am now beginning to suspect that Gore has moved on to a speech writer who is currently in elementary school.
